ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM)-WZZM 13 is celebrating its golden anniversary with the help of some familiar faces.
About 100 WZZM 13 veterans and their families filled Amore Trattoria Italian Restaurant Saturday night for a much anticipated reunion. Some traveled from as far away as New York, like Mark Lagerkvist and Scott Cohn. But they all came with memories.
"One of the best memories I have about TV 13 was when the Gerald R. Ford Public Museum was dedicated and we got to cover it. It was such a great time for the city of Grand Rapids and really started the rebirth of downtown," said former talk show host Cynthia Kay.
"We were like a family. Some of my best friends still in life worked at the station together. Our kids know their kids and we just have so much fun together. We're like one big family unit. A lot of talented, intelligent, compassionate people," explained former producer and reporter, Colleen Pierson.
"It's a special place, it really is. I know that it had an amazing history and there's a lot of people who had not seen each other in a long time. To celebrate 50 years of the station is quite a feat," added former chief photojournalist Bob Gould.
WZZM 13 first signed on November 1, 1962.
