Concerns voiced about Walker motel

WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- It's a dangerous place and is a threat to their neighborhoods, concerned Walker neighbors said Monday night about a motel that's been the scene of several crimes.

People who live near America's Best Value Inn and Suites shared their concerns Monday night with city council members. They said they want something done about violent crime that's happened in that motel at the corner of Alpine and Three Mile.

In February, a meth lab exploded. A man was killed there in December, and another man was killed there in August 2010 when the location was a Motel 6.

The current owner of the motel said illegal activity hurts him the most and he plans to increase security. There have been patrols overnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Now, security guards will be there more often during the week.
