Woman found dead in Walker feared for life

WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- A woman found dead this past weekend in Walker had filed a personal protection order against her ex-boyfriend.

Kristin Sidlauskas, 39, filed the PPO back in October 2014. Since then, her body was dumped near a home on Hillside Drive in Walker.

On May 16, neighbors called 911 just after 7 p.m. One of the neighbors, Jerry Bajema, said at that time, there was a kids' party going on at the end of the street. The kids were playing outside, behind their homes.

"The kids were back there, playing by the creek, and they discovered the body there," Bajema said.

"At this point, the medical examiner has deemed it a homicide," Walker Public Safety Director Catherine Garcia-Lindstrom has said

Sidlauskas had recently stayed at America's Best Value Inn on 3 Mile Road at Alpine. The manager at the hotel says Sidlauskas checked-in alone but a few people did come and go from her room during her stay.

According to court documents, Sidlauskas had a personal protection order against her ex-boyfriend. Six months ago, she wrote, "He has threatened to kill me," and he "grabbed me around the neck."

Both Sidlauskas and her ex-boyfriend have a history of drug abuse. Their 2-year-old son was removed from their care earlier this month. Walker police wouldn't comment on the status of the ex-boyfriend. They would only say that they are looking for tips.

Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to call the Walker Police Department at 616-453-5441 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
