My Town Walker: Roundabout to ease traffic at intersection

My Town Walker: Roundabout to ease traffic at intersection

The Michigan Department of Transportation unveiled a new traffic plan last Monday, regarding a turnabout at the intersection of Wilson Ave. & Remembrance Rd. NW in Walker, MI.

The current intersection will be removed and a 180-foot diameter roundabout will be built in its place beginning next June, 2015. The entire reconstruction of this busy intersection could take up to 6 months to complete.

This intersection has been the scene of many accidents and most of them are serious ones. In studies over the past 10 years, roundabouts take away the possibility of a head on collision and T-bone accidents. It will also help ease the congestion of rush hour traffic.
