W Mich Academy of Environmental Science helps make Toys for Tots Challenge a success | Community Spirit

Hundreds of students and thousands of toys filled the WZZM 13 parking lot this morning, as another Toys for Tots School Spirit Challenge wrapped up.  Based on the knowledge that no one knows better than a child how awful it would be to wake up without a toy on Christmas morning, the School Spirit Challenge engages kids to collect toys.

This year, more than 50 schools participated and collected more than 10,000 toys.  Many schools will continue their collections through next week.  “It’s just so wonderful to see kids get into the spirit of this campaign,” said WZZM Community Relations Director Catherine Behrendt.  “They understand the joy that a toy brings to a child on Christmas morning.”
